#108 How to preach what you do!

The other day I was working with a client on her messaging. She is rebooting her career after a little hiatus and I asked her a super simple question;

“What do you want?”

Simple right?

By the end of the conversation, she understood the importance of sharing with the world who she is, what she does, and her basic desire as a creative, career-driven business builder.

But how do you do that without showing up on social media pointing ridiculously in the air while trying to get your message across?

I hate that shit and if you are in my sphere, this is not the first time you have heard me express my disdain for those obnoxious posts.

There are lots of ways to highlight your value but at the end of the day, most of us(you) maybe feel a bit invisible.

You already know that you are good at your craft. The challenge lies in letting others in on that fabulous secret.

So, in helping her, I was curious and started scrolling around on LinkedIn (my preferred social media platform). After searching for those that I admire and respect, I was shocked at how a majority of them were not taking advantage of one of their biggest assets.

Their timeline banner. Prime real estate, people!

If you are not tending to your plot of land, you will never be seen or heard nor will you scale and grow your business.

My three tips today will walk you through the process of creating a simple organic strategy that works!

Today's three tips might be just the thing you need to create a system for prioritizing your needs, wants, and desires.

Tip #1
The first thing you want to do is decide which social media platforms you want to focus on. If you are a B2B(business 2 business) or B2C (business to consumer) matters. I work mostly with B2C humans and because of that, I strongly suggest LinkedIn and Pinterest. Instagram is still a fan favorite, but it’s not a business driver. It’s just a place for people, in my opinion, to create infomercials and say, “look at me,” or “I, I, I, I, I” offering very little value and authenticity. With that said, I still post there. But I do it with very little expectations of any kind of ROI.

Tip #2
Now that you have established your platform, it’s time to identify your brand image and social messaging. Your messaging is what will make you stand apart from your competition and if you are not asking for exactly what you want in return - you will go nowhere. Those in the digital media world, call this your CTA; call to action. Being transparent and telling your people what to do next will be the difference between staying stagnant and scaling.

Tip #3
Being clear on who you help, how you help them, and what result you are offering in return is what Abraham Hicks calls a “value articulator statement.” I call it your “problem-solving statement.” Because at the end of the day we all got problems and I bet you have solutions for many of those problems. I always tell my clients to “fall in love with the problem your audience is struggling with.” Identifying this is one of the first steps in being as clear as possible as to who you are and what you do.

This stuff works. And I am not just blowing smoke up your ass. 24 hours after updating my client’s timeline banners (the one mentioned above), she had a DM, from someone from her past, requesting her to collaborate with him on a project. True story!

If you can use this knowledge to transform your own organic marketing strategy, I can almost promise it will contribute to your success.

In the spirit of being transparent and telling you where to go next, I have a little mini offer that might be just too good to pass up. It's a Brand and Business Audit. If today’s message speaks to you, I can help you the same way I helped my client receive validation within the first 24 hours of her taking action, then this is for you.

I generally save this service for those that either work with me privately or are in my group programs For the first time, I am making it available to you. You can sign up here

As we move more heavily into an online, digital existence, how you show up online is one’s first impression of you. Why not make it a WOW moment? After you sign up, I will evaluate whether your brand messaging, colors, design, and social media platforms are cohesive. You will get an objective opinion on how you can grow your sphere of influence and increase your income and your impact.
